No: 286, 5 September 2014

We strongly condemn the terrorist attack perpetrated in the city of Kidal, north of Mali on 2 September 2014 resulting in the death of 4 Chadian soldiers under the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) and injury of 15 people. While wishing God’s mercy upon those who lost their lives in the attack, we offer our condolences to their families as well as the brotherly people of Mali and Chad and wish speedy recovery to the wounded.

At this critical junction of the ongoing dialogue and reconciliation process in Mali, we expect that the perpetrators of this heinous attack targeting the UN personnel be arrested and brought to justice as soon as possible.

Providing every kind of support to the establishment of lasting peace and stability in Mali through its bilateral relations and international platforms from the onset, Turkey will continue to be in solidarity with the friendly and brotherly people of Mali in the period ahead.
