Press Release Regarding the Violation of the Ceasefire in Libya

Republic Of Türkiye Ministry Of Foreign Affairs 23.01.2015

No: 26, 23 January 2015

We express our concerns about the breaches of the ceasefire which was declared by the parties, which is conducive to the political dialogue process initiated to find a solution to the crisis in Libya and about the renewed trend of increase in fighting.

In this framework, we condemn the attack against the Libyan Central Bank branch in Benghazi and we believe that all prestigious legitimate national institutions in the country must be spared.

We attach importance to the continuation of the inclusive political dialogue process initiated in Geneva on 14-15 January 2015 and invite the parties to comply with the ceasefire and take part in the second meeting of the dialogue process.

Turkey will continue to stand by the brotherly people of Libya and support the political solution process in cooperation with the UN.
