H.E. Mr. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, will participate in the informal meeting to be held with the participation of Foreign Ministers of the EU member states and candidate countries in Bucharest on 31 January and 1 February 2019, upon the invitation of H.E. Ms. Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/the Vice President of the Commission and H.E. Mr. Teodor Meleşcanu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania currently holding the EU Presidency. The informal meeting, also known as “Gymnich meeting”, gives the opportunity for an exchange of views on foreign policy developments.

During the meeting, the participants will mainly exchange views on China with a focus on areas where interests and common challenges of EU member states and candidate countries converge, as well as on the future of the Balkan region. Furthermore, discussions will be held with EU member states’ Ministers concerning Turkey’s accession process and bilateral relations.
