No: 294, 16 November 2020, Press Release Regarding the Commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of UNESCO

Republic Of Türkiye Ministry Of Foreign Affairs 16.11.2020

Turkey, as one of the twenty founding states, commemorates the 75th Anniversary of the establishment of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). We observe that the Organization has been determined on working for world peace and sustainable development through education, science and culture.

The United Nations system has been one of the fundamental pillars of the post World War II order. This year, the Presidency of the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly is undertaken by Ambassador Volkan Bozkır and the Presidency of the UNESCO 40th General Conference is assumed by Ambassador Altay Cengizer.

Within the framework of our enterprising and humanitarian foreign policy, Turkey as a member of the UNESCO Executive Board, is actively working to provide peace and stability, supporting every effort to address global challenges, promoting attempts to eliminate disparities and striving to be the voice and conscience of the international community.

By taking this opportunity, we congratulate the UNESCO family, while reaffirming Turkey’s commitment to the UNESCO ideals and goals.
